Belmond Doctor Who Gave Up License in MN Now Faces Charge in Iowa
Dr. Dennis Colby, who surrendered his license to practice medicine in Minnesota this past January as part of a disciplinary action, is currently facing charges in Iowa. Since July 1980, Colby has held an Iowa medical license without facing any disciplinary action during that time span. He is currently listed as a family medicine physician at the Belmond Clinic at Iowa Specialty Hospital - Belmond. In late March, though, the Iowa Board of Medicine filed charges against him for allegedly violating state code when he was disciplined by Minnesota's licensing authority while holding a license in Iowa. Minnesota's Board of Medical Practice had fielded a number of complaints against Colby, including for his prescription practices. The Iowa Board of Medicine has scheduled an April 15 hearing on the matter.
