World's First Burn Nursing Specialty Certification Now Available
by Daily Nurse
The first ever specialty certification for burn nursing has been unveiled by the Board of Certification for Emergency Nursing (BCEN). To earn the BCEN's Certified Burn Registered Nurse (CBRN) credential, eligible registered nurses and advanced practice registered nurses must pass a comprehensive national exam that covers such areas as prehospital care, initial management, acute and critical care, post-acute rehabilitation, outpatient and community care, aftercare and reintegration, injury prevention, education, and psychosocial patient and family support. The new certification program was mentioned in a new burn nursing video by burn nurse experts and American Burn Association leaders. Eligible nurses who are educated or licensed outside the United States, Canada, or Australia must first complete BCEN's international credential evaluation process before applying to sit for the CBRN exam.
