by Villages-News
In Florida, a physician who is presently being sued by a former patient is facing a similar lawsuit from a second patient who claims he suffered a spinal hematoma after receiving a lumbar injection from the doctor. The lawsuit was filed on behalf of husband-and-wife couple John and Phyllis Matthews. The suit charges that, while working for The Villages Health System, Dr. Harsha Rajashekar performed a procedure on Mr. Matthews that allegedly resulted in an injury with "permanent or continuing" losses. The lawsuit accuses Rajashekar of negligence and of misdiagnosing Matthews' condition during both the "epidural injection procedure and in the post-procedure period on December 13, 2021 through December 15, 2021." The suit goes on to accuse the doctor of failing to timely refer Matthews to a hospital and not providing "adequate supervision, instructions, or coordination" with his nurse. Indeed, the suit against Rajashekar comes two months after a Village of Duval woman sued him and The Villages Health System for allegedly “permanently injuring” her spinal nerves during a lumbar decompression procedure.
