NBC Los Angeles (01/26/24)
Dr. William Moore Thompson IV, an infectious disease specialist, has been accused of sexually abusing male patients during visits at both his Newport Beach, California, office as well as at Hoag Hospital in Orange County. Thompson is now facing criminal charges for the alleged molestations and is currently being sued by 73 former patients. Thompson specialized in LGBTQ care, according to the lawsuit. Many of the men suing said they specifically sought out Thompson’s services. The plaintiffs charge that Thompson took advantage of them under the pretext of providing medical care. Furthermore, the suit claims the hospital ignored numerous "red flags" about the doctor's alleged behavior.
