Job satisfaction among nurses surged 64% in 2023 from the year prior, according to "The 2024 State of Nursing" report from Nurse.org, based on a poll of more than 2,400 nurses. Respondents also showed increased optimism about the nursing profession, with 69% saying they loved being a nurse, 61% saying it's a "great career," and 57% saying new nurses should join the profession. Nurses planning to leave their current roles cited the desire to earn more money, frustration with the current administration, and wanting to work for an organization with a better staffing ratio as the main reasons for their decision. Finally, the percentage of nurses reporting adequate staffing in their units rose to 33% in 2023 from 14% in 2022 and 15% in 2021.
