How Medtech Is Reshaping Continuing Education in the Medical Profession

Zen Media CEO Shana Hyder says medical technology (medtech) is helping healthcare professionals meet continuing education requirements. National Bioskills Laboratories developed a remote physician training platform in response to the travel restrictions imposed on surgeons by COVID-19. The platform streams multiple video outputs from surgical cameras and medical equipment simultaneously, using cloud-based software and proprietary hardware from CrowdOptic. Physicians worldwide can train on some of the latest surgical techniques and equipment with this system. Meanwhile, St. Mary's Medical Center & the Palm Beach Children's Hospital recently hosted the first case study of a three-dimensional teleconferencing virtual reality training platform used to accelerate the adoption of minimally invasive spine surgery procedures. "Medtech is only going to grow in importance as we face the challenges of the future, from expanding access to medical care around the globe to preparing for the next pandemic," Hyder concludes.
