Digital Health Companies Hiring as Hospitals Continue to Furlough

Digital health companies and startups have been on a hiring spree during the COVID-19 crisis as hospitals and other facilities have furloughed employees or trimmed payroll altogether. More than 260 hospitals have furloughed thousands of staffers in the past three months, mainly because of revenue lost from canceling or postponing elective procedures during the outbreak. Some hospitals and health systems have also reduced pay for senior leaders and others. Meanwhile, such digital health companies as Evidation Health and Omanda Health have been thriving due to the transition to virtual health. As of press time, Rock Health's job boards had more than 235 openings listed for digital health and telehealth portfolio companies, including such positions as sales, marketing, data science, business intelligence, and analytics. Some are also hiring clinicians.
