Course Focuses on Spanish for the Medical Professional
by Penn State News
Penn State University's York campus is offering Spanish for the Medical Professional, a new course designed to help healthcare workers communicate effectively with Spanish-speaking patients. The course will be taught via Zoom starting July 12 through Sept. 29. The York campus is offering the class in partnership with Penn State Abington, Penn State Lehigh Valley, Penn State Scranton, and Penn State Wilkes-Barre. By the end of the course, the goal is that students will be able to apply medical vocabulary in routine medical situations, write simple memos and health-related reports, describe signs and symptoms from the most common diseases, and demonstrate basic skills to conduct a patient interview all in Spanish.
