Amazon Rolls Out Its Virtual Health Clinic Nationwide
by CNBC News
Amazon’s virtual health clinic offering is now available nationwide. The Amazon Clinic service was unveiled in November; the company does not provide the telemedicine services itself but functions as a platform for linking patients with telemedicine partners, including Hello Alpha, Curai Health, Wheel, and SteadyMD. Users nationwide can now access Amazon Clinic through video visits. But message-based chat on Amazon Clinic is only allowed in 34 states due to regulatory restrictions. Nworah Ayogu, chief medical officer of Amazon Clinic, said the company evaluates the quality of each provider and their internal operations to ensure "they have stood up as a provider group." Amazon also ensures that provider groups are staffed across all 50 states "to be able to deliver care in a timely response," Ayogu said. Amazon Clinic currently does not accept insurance, but consumers can use insurance to help pay for medications prescribed through the service. Prescriptions can be filled at any pharmacy.
