Seth Baltz’s CPCS Certification Demonstrates Unwavering Commitment to the Healthcare Profession
By Mindy Rodgers, CPCS, CPMSM, PMP

The NAMSS Certification Commission (CCN) would like to acknowledge the new CPCS® and CPMSM® certificants from the fall 2024 testing window. During the last 2024 testing window, 254 CPCS and 90 CPMSM candidates recently earned their certification. Congratulations to all the new certificants who have worked hard to earn this prestigious accomplishment!
The Certification Commission is pleased to highlight a new fall 2024 CPCS certificant: Seth Baltz, CPCS. Seth has worked in the medical services professional (MSP) industry for the past eight years at a central verification office (CVO) in Missouri. The CVO where Seth works manages the credentialing for about 45 hospitals in Missouri, Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Kansas, and has over 15,000 active providers (and an additional 3,000 delegates). Here, Seth shares his experiences, goals, and journey to becoming CPCS certified.
CCN: How long have you been considering taking the CPCS certification exam?
Seth Baltz (SB): I had been considering taking the exam for about four years. My direct supervisor encouraged me to take the exam.
CCN: What does the CPCS certification represent to you?
SB: The CPCS certification represents an achievement and verifies my competence within the credentialing world.
CCN: Do you have recommendations or advice for candidates preparing for the exam?
SB: For those preparing for the exam, pay attention to all the accreditation bodies. I was confident with the accreditation standards that I use in my job, but I also studied the others.
CCN: How will certification help you with your future career goals?
SB: Certification is a requirement for some future promotions within my current organization. Certification demonstrates my expertise in the credentialing field.

The CPCS fall 2024 exit survey responses supports Seth’s statement because 73% of the CPCS candidate respondents indicated that becoming CPCS certified was required for their job, and 67% responded that certification was required for a promotion. Certification is quickly becoming an industry standard for MSPs, and it is highly valued in the industry and by hiring managers.
CCN: How did you feel once you learned that you had passed the CPCS exam?
SB: When I found out I had passed, it was a relief. I definitely felt a sense of accomplishment and gratitude for all of the time I put into studying.
