Indiana-based Cameron Memorial Community Hospital has added UV-C robots to the cleaning protocols for its operating rooms (ORs) and high-traffic locations, with the goal of maintaining the highest levels of cleanliness in critical areas to lower the risk of healthcare-associated infections. "Every OR gets a robot every night, and our lobby receives the same treatment," says Darren Goff, executive director of hospital services. The integration of robots into the daily cleaning routine involved training staff to operate them. The dramatic reductions in manual cleaning time due to the robots have translated into more time for staff to handle other important tasks. Additionally, the robots have boosted operational efficiency and reduced infection risks, resulting in significant cost savings while enhancing the quality of patient care.
