Nine in 10 PAs Say the PA Licensure Compact Is Taking Too Long to Implement

Around nine in 10 physician assistants (91%) believe that the Physician Assistant Licensure Compact is taking too long to implement, according to a survey of 454 PAs by Barton Associates, a locum tenens staffing firm. The compact has been officially activated in Delaware, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Utah, Wisconsin, West Virginia, Washington, and Virginia, but it could take up to 24 months for it to become operational. An overwhelming majority of PAs (99%) say they support the implementation of the PA Licensure Compact. PAs also say that the compact will increase patient access to high-quality healthcare, with approximately 99% agreeing with that statement.
