NAMSS Releases Hospital Merger-Acquisition Toolkit
By NAMSS Government Relations
The NAMSS Policy and Government Relations team is pleased to release NAMSS’ Hospital Merger-Acquisition Toolkit, the third installment of NAMSS’s Hospital Toolkit Series. The Hospital Merger-Acquisition Toolkit provides MSPs guidance on the unique opportunities have in a hospital merger or acquisition. The Toolkit builds off NAMSS’ 2020 Hospital Closure Toolkit, which describes MSPs’ role in securing and preserving practitioner-affiliation and other medical-staff data once a hospital closes and 2021 New-Hospital Toolkit, which provides guidance on MSPs’ role in developing and launching protocol for a new hospital.
The NAMSS Hospital Merger-Acquisition Toolkit includes strategies and protocol MSPs can follow—and help implement—to ensure a merged or acquired hospital meets medical staff-services department compliance standards. MSPs’ unique expertise gives them a critical voice during hospital transitions that the NAMSS Hospital Toolkit Series helps develop, fine tune, and strengthen.
The Hospital Merger-Acquisition Toolkit also gives MSPs guidance on merging medical staff services departments, revising or finalizing medical-staff bylaws, and promoting efficient processes for running a merged medical staff services department. As with all NAMSS Hospital Toolkits, the Hospital Merger-Acquisition Toolkit includes leadership opportunities available to MSPs during a hospital transition.
MSPs are experts in medical-staff service operations and play a critical role in medical staff design, functionality, and compliance. The NAMSS Hospital Toolkit Series is a resource for MSPs facing significant systematic hospital changes that affect medical staff services—and MSPs. The Series helps equip MSPs with the knowledge, awareness, and confidence to approach, and work with, hospital leadership to ensure functionality and compliance during hospital closures and restructurings.
The Hospital Merger-Acquisition Toolkit is now available to all NAMSS Members under the NAMSS Advocacy page. The NAMSS Policy and Government Relations team will continue to revise and contribute to the Toolkit Series and is always interested in how NAMSS members use the Series. To provide feedback on these Toolkits, or to provide ideas for future Toolkits, contact Molly Giammarco, NAMSS Policy & Government Relations.
