Graduate Medical Education Leaders Provide Resources for Training Residents
By Katherine Dorochenko
The Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) has collaborated with leaders in U.S. graduate medical education (GME) to update COVID-19-specific resources for those entering residency programs.
The collaboration resulted in revising Transition in a Time of Disruption: Practical Guidance to Support Learners in the Transition to Graduate Medical Education, which provides residents guidance on delivering high-quality care, as well as support for their well-being and development of new residents.
This document is a part of the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education’s Transitions in Medical Education series, which includes resources to help residents transition to fellowships and into practice.
“The COVID-19 pandemic continues to disrupt the education and training of physicians, and both learners and teachers have shown remarkable resilience,” said William W. Pinsky, MD, CEO of Intealth and President of ECFMG. “It is our obligation to continue to support them with the latest available information and guidance and to address the unique challenges of international medical graduates entering U.S. training.”
Please contact ECFMG with any questions regarding the resources outlined for residents and those transitioning into practice.
