Bangor Doctor Sued Again After Performing 2nd Wrong-Limb Surgery

In Maine, Dr. Adam Darcy is being sued for operating on a Milford man’s wrong leg in 2024, leaving him with lasting nerve damage. The surgeon operated on Randy Hicks’ right leg rather than his left leg where he had a partial Achilles tendon tear and partial tear in a foot tendon, according to the recently filed lawsuit in Penobscot County Superior Court. Hicks is suing Darcy, Acadia Foot & Ankle, St. Joseph Hospital, and Covenant Health, alleging medical negligence and demanding unspecified damages for the pain and suffering he continues to experience. This is not the first time Darcy operated on a patient's wrong limb. Nine years ago, he amputated the wrong toe of a different patient and was also sued by that patient. Regarding the Hicks' case, Darcy's surgical privileges were revoked by St. Joseph in late 2025. The Maine Board of Licensure of Podiatric Medicine subsequently issued a lifetime restriction on Darcy's surgical license.
