The state of New York recently banned Dr. Dennis Daly of Syracuse from performing cosmetic surgery because he used an unqualified technician in a hair transplant procedure. The state Board for Professional Medical Conduct ordered Daly to shut down his SNY Surgery Center in East Syracuse and directed him to permanently cease performing all types of cosmetic surgery. Daly is not contesting the misconduct charges. But Daniel Laraby, Daly's lawyer, said his client was unaware the technician who assisted him lacked proper credentials. Daly, a family and geriatric medicine doctor who practices at Familycare Medical Group in Camillus, filed a business certificate seven years ago for his hair transplant practice. The board said a hair transplant procedure that was performed at his facility in 2017 was done so with the assistance of an individual who did not have a medical license. The board found that Daly had "reason to know" this person lacked proper training and/or experience. Daly, now on probation for three years, can only practice medicine when monitored by another licensed doctor.
