In the most recent analysis from national watchdog Leapfrog Group, more than 25% of Chicago's hospitals saw their safety rankings fall. Overall, Illinois hospitals recorded a positive trend, with the state placing 11th in the country for hospital safety compared to 14th in May. Leapfrog assesses patient safety at more than 2,600 acute care hospitals, not including children's hospitals, nationwide twice a year.
